The band’s origins are from as far back as 1994 where the guys played at regular, local jamming sessions, eventually hosting acoustic nights where, as well as playing numbers from their own repertoire, they would offer themselves as a house band for other musicians to present their material and ideas.
From being a nameless core, they adopted the name of Wagger’s Tale, a nod in the direction of the former Ware club, where their Monday night sessions took place, developing something of a “scene” in the area. Around that time, the guys were invited to play a set in the Ware Priory Garden, on the gravel immediately behind the main building. This first Sunday afternoon gig in 1996 was billed as “Rock In The Priory” and has remained an annual event ever since. The name “Five Green Trees” was adopted in the late 90’s and, has since been shortened to simply “The Trees”.
The guys will be bringing you a mixed palette of full-band Americana, Roots Rock, Folk and Blues, all delivered with a deft and delicate touch, but also a gritty edge. Small amps driving hard – and big sound, is our thing!
